How to Build you Personal Brand with HGTV's Seth O'byrne
Jan 20, 2020In this episode of 'There Are No Heroes' I sit down with Seth O'byrne, one of San Diego's top real estate agents selling over one billion dollars in real estate and star of HGTV's "Hot Properties.
Seth spoke in detail about how he was able to grow his business exponentially by building his personal brand through the use of video and social media.
Here are just a few of the BIG Ideas that Seth shared:
- Project who you want to be
- Instead of using social media to just paint a static snapshot of who you currently are ("hey look... here's me eating some pizza!"), use it as a tool to project the person that you are becoming. Identify the type of person that you want to work with, and post content that appeals to that person. Seth tells a story about how he wanted to work with wealthy people in a certain neighborhood. At the time, he had no experience working with that type of clientele, but he created videos "projecting" that he was an expert in that area. This "projection" attracted his ideal client and set the stage for his first record-breaking real estate transaction!
- Become Hyper-focused
- Find one area of focus... one specialty... one niche and become the expert in that area! When you try to spread yourself thin, you just become a generalist and you don't become known for anything. People don't seek out generalist... they seek out experts! Decide which area will you become an expert... and only serve that area! Focus on doing one thing really really well and people will start to seek you out!
- GO ALL IN!
- The biggest thing that attributed to Seth's success is his "go for broke" mindset! Seth made several big moves in his career. One such move was hiring a helicopter and film crew to produce a marketing video for his services. It cost him $8,000 to produce that video which left him with barely any money to take home to his family that month. However, that video has produced millions and millions of dollars for Seth's business. By GOING ALL IN and fully committing himself, he was able to think boldly... be creative... and do something that no one else was doing in his field which set him apart and made him the go-to person. You can't just dip your toe in the water and dabble. The people that will rise to the top are the people that will GO ALL IN and make bold moves to get what they want!
